Before the start of the Competition, Hu Chunhua, Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Governor Ma Xingrui, and Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, and other leaders went to the site to visit. Sun Weiming, Director of the Information Center of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, accompanied and explained for them about three industrial chains namely E-sourcing, New energy vehicles, and chip design and application. The exhibition of the three industry chains comprehensively reflects the current development situation of these three areas and the outstanding projects and innovative ideas emerged in 2017 “Maker in China” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Zhang Feng, Party Committee Member and Chief Engineer of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology , and Yuan Baocheng, Vice-governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, attended the Launching Ceremony. The Ceremony was chaired by Ma Xianghui, Director General of the SME Bureau of Ministry Industry and Information Technology.
Zhang Feng pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology actively implements the work of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on innovation-driven development strategy, promoting public innovation and the healthy development of SMEs, and other works, further optimizes the development environment, builds service platform, activates the vitality for innovation and entrepreneurship, effectively promotes the innovation and entrepreneurship development of SMEs, and promotes the stable operation of SMEs, focuses on stabilizing growth, promoting reform, adjusting structure, benefiting people’s livelihood and preventing risk, and make significant contribution to the maintaining of stable and healthy economic development and social harmony and stability.
Zhang Feng said, “Maker in China” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is an important measure carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to promote the work of innovation and entrepreneurship. It adheres to the aim of “around the industrial chain and build industrial chain”, focuses on building the integrated platform for SMEs and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, have matchmaking and project incubation, and will continue to promote the transformation and upgrading of SMEs, and the development of the financing development of big companies and SMEs.
Zhang Feng stressed that though this is the 2nd “Maker in China” Competition, it has made gratifying results. All localities and departments in charge of SMEs, subordinate colleges and universities and the relevant units make well organizations and the society actively participates in. There are 12 provinces and municipalities departments in charge of SMEs which select good projects through regional competition; and there are 12 specific competitions which are applied and hosted by the local government, industry associations and large enterprises. 2017 “Maker in China” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition gathers 5275 projects from the whole country, which is a 65% increase comparing with that of 2016. The number of participating teams has increased significantly, and more qualified sub-sectors projects choose to participate in the competition because of the addition of specific competitions. It shows that “Maker in China” brand, with the promotion of departments of SMEs around the country, has aroused widespread concern in society, and has played a positive role in the development of manufacturing industry, integration of the Internet and the promotion of “innovation and entrepreneurship”.
As for those participating projects, especially those winners, Zhang Feng asked the Ministry of Industry Information Center (as the Competition secretariat) to do a good job of the service work, to ensure the fair and open of the competition, to work with all levels of SMEs to strengthen publicity and display, to actively interpret for the supporting financing institutions to strive for financial support. All localities and departments in charge of SMEs should arrange business counseling and training for the projects settled in industrial parks and industrial towns, provide coordination services, do follow-ups to help enterprises to solve the practical problems they may encounter during project landing. The relevant units should continue summing up the competition experience, constantly improve and optimize, and increase the influence of the competition.
The Competition is divided into entrepreneur group and enterprise group, each with 12 finalists. Participants should give presentation and answer questions given by 11 senior experts. The judges will score according to the speech and defense situation, and select the winner on-site.
During the Competition, Liu Yunjie, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a report titled as “network and innovation development in the future”, which is released together SMEs on Cloud 3-year action plan (the main content is attached). The Ministry of Industry and Information Center, together with domestic and foreign “cloud” service enterprises, work with local authorities and industrial parks to carry out this work, aiming at continuing gathering SMEs on “Maker in China” platform, collecting and improving the production of innovative projects, manufacturing and other related information of enterprises with innovation projects, so that it can receive more high-quality cloud services on the platform.
The Contest also presented the 2017 “Maker in China” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Organization Mobilization Award. The Competition secretariat selected the best organization mobilization award of the year according to the number of participating projects, the interaction, the publicity and the efficiency of the top 200 or top 24 projects. It has the Gold Award, the Silver Award and the Excellence Award.
A total of more than 200 people including leaders of the SME Bureau of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce Individual and Private Economic Supervision and Management Division, the Guangdong Provincial Government General Office and other units, leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Information Center, SME Development Promotion Center and other units which are directly under the governance, leaders of SMEs from each provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), as well as media reporters, attended the event.
