On April 24, the Press Conference of the 14th China International SME Fair (CISMEF) was held in Beijing. Xu Lejiang, Vice Chairman of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology; Yuan Baocheng, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province; Lan Shiyong, Deputy Inspector of the Department for Regulation of Private Economy, State Administration for Industry & Commerce; Esrom Thabo Thage, Consul General of South Africa in Shanghai and Ma Jian, the Deputy Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in China attended the conference.
At the conference, Xu said that the 14th CISMEF will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Department of Small Business Development of South Africa and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, with a planned exhibition area of 150,000 square meters, 6,000 international standard booths and not less than 1,200 booths for overseas exhibitors. Domestic Theme Exhibition and International Exhibition will be held at POLY World Trade Center EXPO, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province from October 10 to 13. Intelligent Manufacturing & “Internet+” Exhibition, Intelligent Building and Smart Home Exhibition, Energy Conservation Exhibition, and other specialized exhibitions will be held at Guangdong Tanzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center, Shunde District, Foshan from October 12 to 15 and from October 20 to 23. According to Xu, the 14th CISMEF will deliver business matchmaking activities, specialized exhibitions and branded forums based on the requirements of the Outline of the “Thirteenth Five-Year” Plan and supply-side structural reform, to further promote international SME exchange and cooperation. As a major move to deepen China-Africa all-round strategic partnership under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the BRICS mechanism, the 14th CISMEF will promote the inclusive and sustainable development of Chinese and foreign SMEs.
Replying to questions from reporters, Yuan said that SMEs are key to the promotion of innovation, transformation and development; the 14th CISMEF will continue to enhance its function of “display, trade, exchange and cooperation”, uphold the theme of “Intelligence, Wisdom，Smart Manufacturing and Energy Conservation”, present “specialized, refined, distinctive and new” products of SMEs from across China and more than 30 foreign countries (regions), organize events such as Asia-Europe SME Financing Seminar, SME Cross-border Business Matchmaking Activity and Maker in China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, support SMEs in integrating into global industry chain and value chain, promote the transformation, upgrading and technical innovation of SMEs, and create an atmosphere of mass entrepreneurship & innovation.
